Description: Sometimes I get an idea for some kind of typographic designs. These are some of the explorations I’ve done in the past.

The Art Experience

Date: 2018

I made this poster after taking a course on local art exhibition. This was my final paper for the class. I decided to make a poster for the essay. Given the subject matter, I thought it would be interesting to use my paper as a frame for the title.

I made this type specimen poster of Swiss 721 in my first year in YSDN to explore things I had learned in my first type courses.

Risograph Masters Experiment

Date: 2020

The takeaway from this project was that sometimes making something by hand can produce what cannot be done on a computer.

One night while I was working in the York Lab, I decided to take some of the riso masters (essentially sheets of ink) and use them to try to create an interesting texture to hand lettering. I put the master facedown on a piece of paper and used a piece of excel gum as a flat calligraphic nib.
